System know-how
Information and basic knowledge about the MANDRYLL system world.
MANDRYLL TEC Protects Your New Build
Structural waterproofing in new construction, basement waterproofing and building protection in ground-contact areas are decisive for the longevity and functionality of a building. Effective waterproofing protects against penetrating moisture that can cause structural damage — applied both horizontally and vertically in new builds to create a complete barrier system.
With the bituminous coatings BDB 2K and BDB 1K and the polymer-modified thick-film coating (FPD) HYBRID 2K FPD, MANDRYLL TEC offers a reliable system solution for a wide range of requirements and building structures. Especially in the basement, an area exposed to heavy moisture loads, MANDRYLL TEC waterproofing products on a mineral or plastic-modified basis are the products of choice. Complementary protective measures such as drainage systems, site grading and slope design prevent moisture problems and protect the building structure for the long term.
MANDRYLL Protects the Value of Your Existing Building
One of the most frequent causes of damp basement walls is defective or inadequate exterior waterproofing in the ground-contact area. Over the years, seepage water damages the masonry and can cause moisture in the basement. Whether ground moisture, non-pressing or pressing water — a well-engineered exterior waterproofing solution from MANDRYLL TEC is the answer.
Moisture damage in older buildings is often not immediately visible to the untrained eye. Salt deposits, spalling, discolouration, mould or pooling water on the floor indicate that advanced moisture damage is already present. Basement waterproofing then becomes urgently necessary to keep out laterally penetrating moisture and preserve the value of your house.
MANDRYLL TEC waterproofing systems cover a broad spectrum of applications in existing buildings. Whether to waterproof from the inside or, ideally, from the outside depends on many factors best assessed by a professional on site. Successful exterior waterproofing protects against moisture for decades — and against damage to the masonry caused by algae, de-icing salt or roots.
Long-Lasting Structural Waterproofing with Thick-Film Coatings
Thick-film coatings are an effective way to protect building surfaces against moisture and environmental influences. Their blend of various polymers, bitumen and additives delivers excellent adhesion and flexibility, provides long-lasting weather protection and extends the service life of the treated surfaces.
MANDRYLL TEC HYBRID 2K FPD — the Swiss Army knife of structural waterproofing: the universally applicable, two-component, flexible polymer thick-film coating (FPD) for ground-contact structural waterproofing in accordance with DIN 18533, including against pressing water. Crack-bridging and flexible, rain-resistant after a short time, fast-curing, UV-resistant and highly resistant to all naturally occurring aggressive substances in the soil. The solvent-free, environmentally friendly primer MANDRYLL TEC HYBRID PRIMER improves adhesion on mineral substrates.
With MANDRYLL TEC BDB 2K and BDB 1K, two polymer-modified bituminous thick coatings (PMBC) are available for structural waterproofing in accordance with DIN EN 15814 and DIN 18533 — including against pressing water: crack-bridging and flexible, trowel-applicable and radon-tight. The ready-to-use, solvent-free primer coat MANDRYLL TEC BDB PRIMER improves adhesion on all mineral vertical and horizontal surfaces.
Sealing Slurries and System Components for Exterior Waterproofing
For waterproofing against active and passive water pressure on mineral substrates, the mineral sealing slurry MANDRYLL TEC DS NB is the answer — for concrete and masonry, machine-applicable and tested for drinking-water applications. Crack-prone zones are secured by the two-component, flexible sealing slurry MANDRYLL TEC ES 2K: crack-bridging, with very good adhesion and fast drying. The sulphate-resistant coving and levelling mortar MANDRYLL TEC DM HS creates the levelling or build-up substrate — frost- and de-icing-salt-resistant.
The system is completed by the three-layer drainage protection sheet MANDRYLL TEC DRAIN M in accordance with DIN 18533, consisting of a dimpled membrane, a robust geotextile and a sliding film on the reverse — with high compressive strength, root-proof and rot-proof — plus the MANDRYLL TEC ABL top edging profile and the MANDRYLL TEC DOWEL SET for efficient fastening of the dimpled membranes.
To reinforce the waterproofing, the glass-fibre fabric MANDRYLL TEC GEWEBE is embedded into BDB 1K, BDB 2K and HYBRID 2K FPD, while the fleece-laminated sealing tapes MANDRYLL TEC FB 120/250/500 with matching interior and exterior corners reinforce and bridge joints, connections and transitions — crack-bridging, flexible, vapour-retarding, highly tear-resistant and rot-proof.
For concrete and masonry surfaces, MANDRYLL TEC OS 5, the two-component, highly elasticised surface protection coating, delivers effective waterproofing and highly effective protection: tested and certified in accordance with the DAfStb guideline OS 5b, crack-bridging up to 2.0 mm at 4.0 mm layer thickness, UV-resistant in accordance with DIN EN 1062-11.
Effective Building Protection from the Inside
Sealing slurry is a water-impermeable yet breathable waterproofing material: it prevents water from penetrating basement and house while allowing vapour to pass through. Sealing slurries form the basic protection of buildings against water damage and moisture.
MANDRYLL TEC DS HS, the ready-to-use, sulphate-resistant surface sealing slurry, works against active and passive water pressure — for concrete and masonry, machine-applicable. MANDRYLL TEC DM HS, the sulphate-resistant coving and levelling mortar, provides the right coating substrate. The primer MANDRYLL TEC GR consolidates porous mineral building materials such as brick, sand-lime stone and mineral renders, improves adhesion and acts as a primer against moisture acting from the rear — solvent-free and environmentally friendly.
When water has to be stopped immediately: MANDRYLL TEC WASSERSTOP, the powdered, cement-bound rapid-setting binder, hardens approx. 30 seconds after mixing — for stopping water ingress and flowing leaks and for plugging water-bearing cracks and wet spots on cement concrete, masonry, vitrified clay pipes and natural stone.
Stopping Moisture: Horizontal Barriers and Injection
Horizontal barriers stop rising damp in buildings, which can cause damage such as mould growth. Professional planning and execution are decisive for their effectiveness: various injection methods anchor the barrier effect permanently in the masonry. MANDRYLL TEC horizontal barriers provide long-term protection against moisture damage and extend the service life of buildings.
MANDRYLL TEC CREME HZ, the ready-to-use cream-type horizontal barrier in accordance with WTA Merkblatt 4-4-04, is tested up to a moisture penetration level of 95 %: its cream consistency allows easy application — highly economical and safe to use. The transparent, water-dilutable horizontal barrier MANDRYLL TEC HZF, likewise WTA-tested up to a 95 % moisture penetration level, impresses as a low-viscosity, solvent-free and highly economical concentrate.
For the waterproofing injection of cracks, joints, voids, gaps and fissures from a crack width of approx. 0.3 mm — in tunnelling, sheet-pile wall sealing, mining and special foundation engineering, for example — the one-component, moisture-reactive injection foam MANDRYLL TEC IH 1K is ready to go: water-stopping, flexible, fast-foaming, reaction time approx. 45 sec. on contact with water. The innovative injection resin MANDRYLL TEC IH 2K in accordance with DIN 1504 and DIN V 18028 combines two injection resin systems (foam and solid resin) in one product: foaming with two-phase reactivity on contact with water, it cures to an elastic solid resin where no water is present — low-viscosity and transparent.
Repair and Restore
The extremely strong and impact-resistant MANDRYLL TEC repair mortars are designed for repairs to subfloors and for forming coved skirtings, kerbstones, thresholds and more — and are easy to apply with a trowel.
MANDRYLL TEC RM TURBO, the cement-bound, fibre-reinforced, ready-mixed repair mortar for horizontal surfaces, sets fast: very high early and final strength, trafficable for traffic, garage and industrial hall areas, resistant to abrasion and de-icing salt.
The universally applicable, low-viscosity, filler-free two-component epoxy reaction resin MANDRYLL TEC EPOXY GM 2K serves as a primer, scratch coat and epoxy resin mortar (up to 1:10) — transparent, with a good working time and high compressive strength. The ready-to-use two-component epoxy repair mortar MANDRYLL TEC EPOXY RM 2K with very high reactivity can be used from a layer thickness of approx. 2 mm and permits high compressive strengths — with easy application, in concrete grey.
Restore Walls for the Long Term: The Renovation Plaster Systems
MANDRYLL renovation plaster systems form the basis for the lasting restoration of moisture- and salt-laden walls. Coordinated system components — from spatterdash through barrier and renovation plaster to fine finishing plaster — ensure reliable execution, support moisture regulation and contribute to the long-term protection of the building fabric.
The system starts with MANDRYLL TEC SPRITZBEWURF, the factory-dry mortar for creating bonding keys in accordance with WTA-Merkblatt 2-9-04/D — indoors and outdoors. MANDRYLL TEC GRUNDPUTZ (factory-dry mortar GP, CS II, Wc 0 in accordance with DIN EN 998-1), the WTA-certified porous base plaster, levels out large irregularities in the masonry and acts as a salt-storage plaster on heavily salt-laden substrates, e.g. in basements and outdoors above ground level. MANDRYLL TEC SPERRPUTZ, the plinth and levelling plaster with an additive to improve the sealing effect, is applied before the waterproofing — suitable indoors and outdoors, machine-applicable.
MANDRYLL TEC SANIERPUTZ WEISS in accordance with WTA-Merkblatt 2-9-04/D is fibre-reinforced, made with a sulphate-resistant binder, highly economical and high-yielding — with a high degree of whiteness, for interior surfaces and exterior surfaces above ground level. The finishing touch is MANDRYLL TEC FEINPUTZ, the thin-layer, finely feltable white lime plaster based on hydraulic lime: low-emission, low-odour in accordance with DIN EN ISO 16000-28, factory-dry mortar CR, CS I, W 0 in accordance with DIN EN 998-1 — preventive and resistant to mould growth.
